Noahic covenant: rainbow, meat, blood; image of God

But after the flood God bound himself by oath toward the whole world — above all toward living creatures and human beings — that he would never again destroy by a flood whatever would spring up on the earth; and he set them a sign: ‘When I cover the sky with a cloud, the bow shall appear in the cloud, and I will remember the oath of my covenant, and I will no more destroy by water all flesh that moves upon the earth.’ (Gen 9:14-15)

He also changed human food, granting permission to eat flesh; for from Adam’s making until the flood people lived on seeds and the fruit of trees, and flesh was not allowed them.

Since Noah’s three sons were the stock of the human race, God blessed them to increase and multiply, saying: ‘Increase and multiply and fill the earth and rule it. The fear and dread of you shall be upon every living creature of the earth and every bird of the sky; and they shall be food for you, even as the green plants. Only you shall not eat flesh with its life-blood. And your own blood I will require at the hand of every beast and of man. Whoever sheds the blood of a human being, by a human being shall his blood be shed; for God made the human being in his image.’ (Gen 9:1-6)

Now the image of God is the Son, after whose likeness the human being was made. (image of God; Col 1:15) And for this reason he appeared at the end of the ages, to show that his image is like him. After this covenant the race from those three sons multiplied; and the earth had one lip — that is, one language. (one language)
