Not-my-people become sons of the living God
And this nation is to be called a holy people, as Hosea, one of the Twelve, announces: ‘I have called my people him who was not my people, and Beloved her who was not beloved. And in the very place where it was said: You are not my people, they shall be called sons of the living God.’ (Hos 2:23; Rom 9:25-26)
Did not John the Baptist himself say: ‘God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham’? (Mt 3:9) For our hearts have been torn from idol worship by faith in God; we become sons of Abraham, who was justified by faith. (Gal 3:7-9)
So God says through Ezekiel: ‘I will give them another heart; I will put a new spirit within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in my statutes… And they shall be my people and I will be their God.’ (Ezek 11:19-20; Ezek 36:26-28)
