‘For scarcely does anyone die for a righteous person, though perhaps someone would dare to die for a good person. But God commends his love toward us because, if Christ died for us while we were still sinners, much more, now justified in his blood, shall we be saved through him from wrath. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, once reconciled, shall we be saved in his life. And not only this, but we also glory in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation’ (Romans 5:7–11). He has revealed the great compassion with which Christ did everything: he deigned to die for people who deserved nothing good.
