Thus, when the wise are allowed little while the worthless are allowed whatever they please, the judgment of virtue has been expelled from the churches by the decree of rioters. What counts against us among the common people is our refusal to swell the ranks of error. I mean the crowd that weighs the worth of an opinion by its success and judges it truer the more people it sees approving it.
