In the first book, clear definitions established that God is just in such a way that, if he could be proved unjust, he would be proved not to be God. Once no doubt remained about this, it also became clear that justice is simply the virtue that never judges unfairly or acts unfairly, but gives each person what belongs to that person, without deception or favoritism—that is, without showing partiality.
