Trying to meet these arguments with a deer’s fear and a fox’s deceit, you deceived the patron to whom you write by telling him that the ruler of darkness dominates God’s works and image because of natural bodily sensation, that is, the desire of the flesh (compare Genesis 1:26–27). Yet the flesh’s sensation must necessarily belong to the same author as the flesh’s nature.
