Against Julian 3.26.61
The apostle was portraying a Jewish person living under the law when he said: “I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh” (Romans 7:18); “It is not I who do it, but sin that dwells in me” (Romans 7:17); “Evil lies close beside me” (Romans 7:21); and “I see another law in my members, fighting against the law of my mind” (Romans 7:23).
