I am amazed that such an outstanding intellect did not see how much he helped us in this too, when he said: “Some sins are overcome by other sins.”

Therefore a human being can very easily be free from sins through the pursuit of holiness, which God assists. For if sins are overcome by sins, how much more can sins be overcome by virtues?
