Rufinus’s book-III note; free will (III pref–1)
Rufinus notes he finished Books I–II under pressure in Lent and moves more slowly through III–IV. The treatise turns to free decision: praise and blame, commandments, and apostolic warnings only make sense if the rational creature is self-determining, not moved as a mere tool.
