Not every captive suffers for his own sins

Not every exile is for personal guilt. Most of Judah fell into Babylon for sin under Nebuchadnezzar, yet a few righteous went too so the guilty would not lack help. God mixes mercy with discipline — like Joseph’s famine provision in Egypt.

Non omnis qui captivus est propter peccata sustinet captivitatem. Multitudo causa peccati derelicta a Deo et a Nabuchodonosor in Babyloniam ducta est; pauci tamen iusti non ob culpam suam, sed ne peccatores subsidium non haberent. Clemens Deus inter supplicia visitationis pietatem miscet.
