Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe
Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” The royal official said, “Lord, come down before my child dies.”
The official had not only a son but also servants. The fevered son in Capernaum is an image of those who are weak and need the Word’s healing.

Εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἐὰν μὴ σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἴδητε, οὐ μὴ πιστεύσητε. λέγει πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλικός· Κύριε, κατάβηθι πρὶν ἀποθανεῖν τὸ παιδίον μου.
Οὐ μόνον υἱὸν ἀλλὰ καὶ δούλους εἶχεν ὁ βασιλικός· ὁ ἐν Καφαρναοὺμ υἱὸς πυρέσσων εἰκὼν ἐστὶν τῶν ἀσθενούντων λόγου δεομένων ἰάσεως.
