See death versus taste death
Though the Savior said “he will not see death,” the Jews report what was not said: “he will not taste death.”
There is a difference between not seeing death and not tasting death.

Τοῦ σωτῆρος εἰρηκότος Θάνατον οὐ μὴ θεωρήσῃ, οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι οὐ τοῦτο ἀλλὰ τὸ μὴ εἰρημένον φασίν· Οὐ μὴ γεύσηται θανάτου.
Ἔστι διαφορὰ τοῦ μὴ θεωρεῖν θάνατον καὶ τοῦ μὴ γεύεσθαι θανάτου.
