Naming the animals; Eve from Adam’s rib
Now while Adam was walking in Paradise, God, who was there, brought before him all the animals and ordered him to give a name to each; and Adam imposed a name on each of the living creatures. ()
God also resolved to give a helper to the human being; then he spoke thus: ‘It is not good that the human being should be alone; let us make for him a helper like him.’ (Gen 2:18) For among all the living beings there was no helper equal, proportionate, and like Adam.
Now God himself sent an ecstasy upon Adam and put him to sleep; and for the accomplishment of his masterpiece God willed that Adam should fall into sleep, which previously did not exist in Paradise. God took one of Adam’s ribs and re-formed the flesh in its place; and from that rib which he had drawn out he made the woman; then he set her in Adam’s presence. ()
At this sight Adam cried: ‘This now is bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she comes from a man who is hers.’ (Gen 2:23)

Dien resolut aussi de donner un aide a l'homme; alors il parla aiusi : « // n'est /ins bon que l'homme soit seid; faisons-lui an aide qui lui soit sem- blable*. » Car, parmi tous les etres vivants, un aide il n'en etait aueun qui l'ül egal, proportionne et semblable ä Adam. Or, Dieu lui-meme envoya une 2 extase ä Adam et Pendormit; et pour l'accomplissement de sou chef-d'o^uvre , Dieu voulut qu'Adam tombät dans le sommeil, qui auparavant n'existait pas au Paradis. Dieu prit une des cotes d'Adam et il reforma la chair ä sa place; ei de cette edle qu'il avait tiree, il fit la femme; puis il la mit en presence d'Adam. A cette vue Adam s'ecria : « Voici maintenant l'os de mes os, la chair de ma chair; eile sera appelee femme, parce quelle vient dun homme qui est le 3 sien . »
