Bound and sent to the king: Pilate and Herod reconciled
It is said again in the Twelve Prophets: ‘And having bound him, they offered him as a gift to the king.’ (Hos 10:6)
For Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea, and at that moment he nursed a deep hatred against Herod, king of the Jews. But when Christ was brought to him in chains, Pilate sent him to Herod’s tribunal with leave to examine him in order to decide what to do regarding Christ: that became the occasion of the Roman proconsul’s reconciliation with king Herod. (Lk 23:6-12)
