I came from God and I am here
“For I came from God and I am here; for I have not come of myself, but he sent me.”
“Coming from God” is to be taken in a God-befitting way: not a change of place, but the Word’s generation from the Father.

Ἐγὼ γὰρ ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθον καὶ ἥκω· οὐδὲ γὰρ ἀπ᾽ ἐμαυτοῦ ἐλήλυθα, ἀλλ᾽ ἐκεῖνός με ἀπέστειλεν.
Τὸ ἐξελθεῖν ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ θεοπρεπῶς νοητέον, οὐ τοπικὴν μετάβασιν σημαῖνον ἀλλὰ τὴν ἐκ τοῦ πατρὸς γένεσιν τοῦ λόγου.
