He rises from supper, lays aside his garments, and taking a towel girded himself.
As the passion arrangement seeks what he was about to do, he prefigures the emptying by laying aside the garments.

Ἐγείρεται ἐκ τοῦ δείπνου καὶ τίθησιν τὰ ἱμάτια, καὶ λαβὼν λέντιον διέζωσεν ἑαυτόν.
Ζητούσης τῆς κατὰ τὸ πάθος οἰκονομίας ἐφ᾽ ὃ ἔμελλεν, προτυποῖ τὴν κένωσιν τῇ θέσει τῶν ἱματίων.
