Tent and vineyard razed; feasts hated; king and priest angered
Tent he calls the temple, and vine and vineyard Israel according to “a vine from Egypt you removed” in David, and “a vineyard came to be for the beloved” in Isaiah. And David adds: “why did you take down its fence?” and what follows; and Isaiah: “you removed its fence” and the things upon this. These things the present Lament also has shown. For God, having drawn together his own guard, handed them over to the enemies, no longer encamping round about him because of not fearing the Lord. And he has also abolished the times according to law unto worship, as in Isaiah he says: “fast and rest and your feasts my soul hates”—which he called a forgetting, but not as a human passion. And he provoked king and priest, being indignant if, being a portion of God, they undergo such things from the impious.
