Know yourself to turn; confess with unveiled face
For it is not possible to turn toward the Lord for the one who has not known himself; and someone knows himself by bringing the understanding upon the deeds—at once inspecting them and at once also making them noetic. For then “with uncovered face we mirror the glory of the Lord,” and confessing the former things we will say that “we have sinned and stood away from you” and “that you are just upon all that you have brought upon us.”

Οὐκ ἔστι γὰρ ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς κύριον τὸν ἑαυτὸν ἀγνοήσαντα· ἐπιγινώσκει δέ τις ἐαυτόν, ἐπάγων ταῖς πράξεσι τὴν διάνοιαν, ἄμα μὲν ἐπισκοπῶν αὐτάς, ἅμα δὲ καὶ νοερὰς ἐργαζόμενος. τότε γὰρ >ἀνακεκαλυμμένῳ προσώπῳ τὴν δόξαν κυρίου κατοπτριζόμεθα> τὰ πρὶν ἐξομολογούμενοι λέξομεν ὅτι >ἡμάρτομεν καὶ ἀποστῆναι ἀπὸ σοῦ< καὶ >ὃτι δίκαιος εἶ ἐπὶ πᾶσιν οἶς ἐπήγαγες ἡμῖν<.
