Kid types lawless; male/female offerings; Lev 5 silence/uncleanness/oath
Cyril: …of a sheep as a penalty, over each also specially through the having-been-likened, I say, to those under sin, and having been reckoned among the lawless, according to the Writings; and a type of a lawless one, the kid, as fruitless and dry. Christ at least sets-beside, as sheep on the one hand from right hands, the holy ones, and as kids also from left hands the workers of the lawlessness. (Matthew 25:33) So then his glorious and beyond-nature one might look-down as one at least in the calf. And the being-likened to the things according to us, and having been reckoned that also among the lawless, you will understand through the he-goat. And he was being slaughtered also as a sheep, through the inborn gentleness, and the excellence unto meekness of sacrifice. ‘For as a sheep he was led,’ he says, ‘and as a lamb, opposite the one shearing him, voiceless, thus he does not open his mouth.’ (Isaiah 53:7) But if somehow the one liable to the faults should be a leader, male was the he-goat. And if somehow someone among peoples and according to one, female the slaughter, even if somehow it should be a sheep, or then from goats, and in the difference of the victims the wise of the economy of our Savior, the law signaling. For always somehow ruling, and in first honor is the male, and following and in second things the female. Proportionally then to the stumblings of each, also the cleansing through Christ both in those having stood-before and leading, and in those under hand, and according to one and having been yoked-under. For they would not be having fallen into sin in equal charges, a leader and a people, but in greater somehow altogether, leaders. Therefore they are wiped with richer grace.
Palladius: I understand what you say; for better than the other is the male.
Cyril: And you would see in Christ, the as in glory different; for a ruler on the one hand he is and guide of the wholes confessedly, as God and Lord. And he has become also as in a second rank, through the human, and he has been set also under law, as guiding-under.
Palladius: Persuasive the mind.
Cyril: And other manners of defilements he joins-on, and the upon each again, he has fore-oracled the purification, as being fulfilled in Christ. And he said thus: ‘And if a soul should sin, and should hear a voice of adjuration, and this one a witness or has seen, or knows-with, if he should not report, he will take the sin. The soul that one whichever if it should touch every unclean thing, or of a carcass, or of a beast-caught unclean, or of the carcasses of abominations the unclean, or of the carcasses of beasts the unclean, or should touch from uncleanness of a human, from every uncleanness of him, of which having touched he should be defiled, and it escaped him, and after this he should know, and should fault, the lawless soul, the distinguishing with the lips to do-evil or to do well according to all as many as if the human should distinguish with an oath, and it should escape him before eyes, and this one should know, and should sin one something of these; and he will confess-out the sin about what things he has sinned against it; and he will bring about what things he has faulted to Lord, about the sin’ (Leviticus 5:1-6)
