Sin-offering calf for anointed priest; cleansing in Christ for all
Cyril: …how there would become for those having been sick-through with the sin, to slip-out of the disease, and to beat-off the damages from the faulting; so then it has been written in Leviticus: ‘And Lord spoke toward Moses, saying: Speak toward the sons of Israel, saying: A soul if it should sin opposite Lord unwillingly, from all the commands of Lord, which one must not do and should do one something from them; if on the one hand the high priest the having-been-anointed should sin so as for the people to sin, also he will bring-forward about his sin, which he sinned, a calf from cattle unblemished to the Lord about the sin. And he will bring-forward the calf beside the door of the tent of the witness opposite Lord, and will put his hand upon the head of the calf opposite Lord, and will slaughter the calf before Lord. And the priest the christ the having-been-perfected the hands having taken from the blood of the calf, also will bring it into the tent of the witness; and the priest will dip the finger into the blood, and will sprinkle from the blood seven times opposite Lord, according to the holy veil. And the priest will put from the blood of the calf upon the horns of the altar of the incense of the composition the opposite Lord, which is in the tent of the witness. And all the blood of the calf he will pour-out beside the base of the altar of the whole-burnt-offerings, which is beside the doors of the tent of the witness. And all the fat of the calf of the of the sin, he will take-around from it the fat the covering the inwards, and all the fat the upon the inwards, and the two kidneys, and fat the upon them, which is upon the thighs, and the lobe the upon the liver with the kidneys he will take-around it, which manner it is taken-away from the calf of the sacrifice of the salvation…’ (Leviticus 4:1-10) …him according to the equal type to the first, very well he says.
Palladius: So then what again would be at least in these the word?
Cyril: Clear, O Palladius, and not hard to take, for those at least altogether sound-minded. For in Christ is the cleansing of priests, and of people, of small and great, and summarily of all (Hebrews 9:12) (Hebrews 10:14), and if according to one somehow faulting we should be caught, through at least the not knowing the divine law,
