Cyril: …saying: ‘Upon a high mountain go up, the one evangelizing Zion.’ (Isaiah 40:9)
Palladius: But thus at least that these hold, clear for everyone. Yet speak how the type upon this, and through the sacred words was being sketched for us.
Cyril: And indeed, O companion, it is beside you also very without-toil to look-down as still in thicker types, the matter being written; for God said thus in the Numbers, toward Moses the most sacred: ‘Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto Hor the mountain opposite all the synagogue; and strip Aaron his robe, and put-on Eleazar his son, and Aaron having been added, let him die there. And Moses did just as Lord arranged for him, and he brought them up unto Or the mountain opposite all the synagogue, and he stripped Aaron his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son, and Aaron died upon the peak of the mountain.’ (Numbers 20:25–28) So then you understand how he is brought up about to die and finishing Aaron, and holding-against of the priesthood the from him, that is, Eleazar? And the mountain the lookable-around and the on-high, and the in glory well-famed, would signal. So then let it have been said thereafter for everyone having been led unto sacred-working: ‘A city lying upon a mountain is not able to be hidden.’ (Matthew 5:14)
