Matthew 21:1–7
Five days before his saving passion, wanting also to fulfill the prophets’ voices spoken about him, he commands the two disciples to go away into the village opposite Bethphage and Bethany and bring him the unbroken colt. That Matthew says a donkey and a colt were brought to the Lord, while Luke and Mark recalled only one beast, is no conflict: when the colt was being led as the disciples were commanded, the donkey also sprang along, following her child as an affectionate mother.
