Matthew 23:11–12
Since one generally sees those who teach new doctrines arriving at the dignity of teaching from love of empty glory and boastfulness, the Lord removes this suspicion and cuts off the road as leading to ruin. So if, he says, you love glory and first places, seek the order of servants and of those later, and practice humility.

Ἐρωτᾷς, εἰ λοιπόν τινες μέλλουσιν καθεσθῆναι· μάθε, ὅτι οὐδείς· μόνης γὰρ τῆς πρώτης οὐσίας τὸ τοιοῦτόν ἐστιν καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρωπίνης· μὴ νοήσαντες γὰρ οἱ ἀπόστολοι τί ἐστιν τὸ καθεσθῆναι "ἐπὶ δώδεκα θρόνους" καὶ ὅ τι τὸ δοξασθῆναι τότε δηλοῖ τοιαύτην ἐζήτουν καθέδραν.
