Matthew 6:25
The soul is more honorable than the body’s essence, as God’s image and inbreathing. The body is its instrument and co-worker toward what is finest. So we must take thought for both body and soul together — for the body only so far as is enough for it and does not hinder the soul.
To the soul one must always give what is its own, care for it in every way, and draw it up through the virtues toward its creative cause.
