Through Christ the whole land was made desolate
Who is the one saying, 'Through me the whole land was made desolate with desolation'? Christ says these things. Before his sojourn many sins had indeed come to the people, but not of such a kind that they should be abandoned altogether and handed over to a long captivity. But when they filled up 'the measure of their fathers' and added to killing the prophets and pursuing the righteous the killing of 'the Christ of God,' then what was spoken came to be: 'Your house is left to you.' And because of him they have suffered these things, and 'with desolation the whole land was made desolate.'

This is a reading translation for study, not a new critical edition of the Greek. Homilies that survive only in Jerome’s Latin are not on this page yet. When they are, they will be marked at those homilies.
