Beginning and first
And so that what is said may not seem a mere assertion, we also call the Savior himself as witness, teaching us to have a distinction between beginning and first. For in the Apocalypse that is current of John he is saying: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and last, the beginning and the end." [...] it is shown that the beginning is taken in one sense and the first in another.
