Why the wicked are scattered from one another
But if another cause of being scattered must also be added to the account, I will set this beside it. Bad people being with one another look to the bad things and increase them, just as good people being with good ones consider good things. So the evil counsel is dissolved and divided—having been able to hold with the like—when the wicked are scattered from one another. For this reason God arranges that the worthless not be with one another, perhaps also providing for them, that their wickedness may not grow together but may shrink as it is dissolved. These things because of 'I will scatter them, a man and his brother, and their fathers and their sons together. Says the Lord. I will not long for them and I will not spare and I will not pity from their destruction.'
